Spectrum Window
Cleaning; the innovative company already
well-known for their work pushing the boundaries in high-rise cleaning,
are now the first commercial window cleaners anywhere in the world to have
invested in their own 3D printing machine.
For Managing
Director Lucian Ivan, it was a necessary progression. “The crew here love a
challenge, and after the recent success on the final cleaning of 25 Churchill
Place at Canary Wharf, we’ve been attracting consistently bigger, bolder and
more demanding proposals. As a result, the team are constantly devising
solutions to increasingly difficult access issues; the problem it seems is that
the current cleaning industry is often quite literally unequipped to deal with
the flow of ideas. “Making our own bespoke cleaning equipment has been the only
way to achieve the standards we want.”
Which means that
today several high level projects in London are seeing results previously
unattainable without the use of scaffolding or Cherry Pickers.
Specialist architecture in the city is also feeling the benefit. Existing
commercial cleaning equipment has recently struggled to cope with the character
and angles of glass design features at a number of prestigious sites in the
capital. Here Spectrum was able rescue efforts with their own bespoke tools,
engineered from conception to reality entirely in-house. For Spectrum and their
clients, the results are quite obviously priceless.
Necessity is the
mother of invention, as they say, and Spectrum Window Cleaning could soon find
they have their own line in commercial cleaning equipment. “It’s true,” Lucian
confirms, “some of our designs were so effective we were fielding enquiries
from the off. The need is out there so production seems a natural step.” The
company are currently in discussion with manufacturers, the real excitement,
though, is still top secret. “We are looking at a completely new method
for cleaning windows;
it’s unchartered territory, but the power 3D printing gives us is the possibility
to achieve it.”
