The face of your facade is something that you should feel proud of, but when your rendered walls appear patchy, damaged or cracked, it looks unpleasant and can reduce the value of your property.

It’s no secret that render can take a battering from the weather over time, which causes damage and erosion. Yet, there is a secret to a long-lasting quality repair, and that's working with our expert render repair team, here at Spectrum.

The Project

In this project, our team carried out a render clean and repair service at York College North Elevation, where various render cracks and patches were in need of repair.

This client required their render repair service to be undertaken with no scaffolding or MEWP due to a tight budget and of course, this is what Spectrum is known for, their creative access solutions. Our IRATA trained abseilers were able to transform, repair and clean the rendering property by rope.

The Site

Using abseiling as the access method meant that not only did we save our client money but there were a handful of other benefits that also came with it:

This project was completed with no need for scaffolding.

The Logistics

Our team were faced with some challenges in this project, with the rendering walls being tall and the affected areas located at all heights. We were faced with a hefty and complicated task.

Thankfully, our render repair exerts are all IRATA certified (which is a rarity in the property maintenance industry) and repaired the exterior of the school successfully and efficiently.

How We Repair Cracked Render

Before any repair is performed, a thorough clean of the whole of the rendering walls of York College was done using the TORC cleaning system. The TORC cleaning process is used instead of a pressure washer as it can cause unwanted damage due to its excessive force. The TORC system utilises a bespoke cleaning solution in a swirling vortex which efficiently and safely lifts all stains and matter, like moss, off the surface.

Once the property was cleaned, we could then properly locate all of the damaged chips and patches of render. We then mixed a sealant solution, specific and unique to the property, which ensured a seamless colour match, accessing the whole of the school safely via rope, reaching and repairing the surface, from corner to corner.

After this patching up process was complete, our team came back to the site once the mixture was dry for a follow-up inspection, which involved a deep analysis of the repair, confirming that no spots were missed.
