How To Maintain Render Properties

The time comes when every property’s exterior surface begins to show signs of wear and tear. Spots of mildew and mould appear on the render causing the property to look discoloured and unloved. Over time organic matter and environmental pollutants take their toll on the building and render cleaning services are required to restore it to its former glory.

One of the best ways to bring the render back to its original aesthetic is to soft wash the render. Soft washing is a cleaning method that uses low pressure and specialist cleaning solutions to remove dirt and stains from the render. Soft washing render is both a safe and effective render cleaning method and, as it does not require scaffolding, can save you up to 70% of the cost of alternative render cleaning methods. Indeed, soft washing your render will leave it looking good as new and maintaining its original splendour.

Why should you clean render?

As with anything that is left to brave the natural elements, your property’s render can become covered and stained with mould, mildew and algae over time. Although there is no rule as to how often you should clean your render, it is typically recommended to clean your property’s render at least once a year to ensure it stays looking its best and does not accumulate too much staining and dirt.

What to look for in render cleaning services:

Cleaning render is not as straightforward as it seems. In fact, there are many different types of render and varying stages of soiling. As such, it is imperative that you choose the right render cleaning method and render cleaning products to ensure that your property’s render is cleaned safely and effectively. Indeed, the wrong chemicals and render cleaning method can damage your property and invalidate any warranties you may have.

As such, although there are various render cleaning methods and render cleaning companies out there, here at Spectrum we would always recommend that you choose a render cleaning company that are experts in their field, as they will be able to ensure that you choose a render deep cleaning method that does not cause any further damage to your property. You should expect to see a portfolio of their past work as well as for them to use their extensive knowledge to carry out a survey of your property’s render to establish what type of rendering your property has as well as the best render cleaning method and render cleaning products for that specific type of render.

Another important consideration when choosing a render cleaning service is accessibility. Having to hire and assemble scaffolding can be an expensive and lengthy process, not to mention an eye sore. It is always best to choose a render cleaning service that eliminates the need for scaffolding entirely and can save you on access costs. At Spectrum we 3D print and manufacture all of our equipment and can clean render up to eight floors form the ground without the need for scaffolding. Indeed, our soft washing render cleaning service is a brilliant option if you are looking to save on access costs and simultaneously achieve a brilliant finish.

What to avoid in render cleaning services:

To avoid damaging your property’s exterior and voiding any insurance policies you may have, it is critical to avoid using pressure washing when cleaning your property’s render. Indeed, using high pressure jets to remove dirt, grime and other organic matter from your property’s render can easily damage the soft surface of the substrate and leave a bad result including an uneven and patchy finish. Instead of relying on high pressure water jets to clean your property’s render, we recommend a soft washing render cleaning method which uses a combination of chemicals and high temperatures to effectively remove fungus, moss, algae, mildew and other stains from the render.

Cost is obviously another important consideration when deciding upon which render cleaning service to use for your property. When managing a maintenance budget as a property manager, it can be really important to cut down on costs, particularly cleaning costs. That is why we also recommend avoiding extortionate scaffolding and access costs when choosing a render cleaning service and instead, using a render cleaning company that has eliminated the need for inconvenient scaffolding and can cut your access costs by up to 70%.

Spectrum’s render cleaning service:

Here at Spectrum, we offer an unrivalled render cleaning service that includes no scaffolding, no access costs and incredible results every time. Indeed, we specialise in restoring render to its former glory and 3D print and manufacture all of our equipment so you can avoid spending extortionate amounts on scaffolding. We also use a soft washing cleaning method, which uses steam rather than pressure, to effectively clean your render and ensure that there is no risk of damage to your property.

Before every project, we will conduct a site survey to recommend both the best method and product for your render and we will also send you a full report including pictures at the end of the project. Along with cleaning render, we also repair cracked render and with all the works we are currently carrying out, we offer free disinfecting cleaning to support with preventing the spread of coronavirus. Indeed, all of our teams already wear full PPE on site as standard. Furthermore, as render cleaning experts, we are proud to host a CPD webinar on modern render for property managers and surveyors every month, for you to get a better understanding of how best to care for your property’s render.

If you would like to discuss your render cleaning requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us and speak to a member of our team today.
