What Are The Types Of Modern Render? - A Guide To Modern Render

#Rendering is the process of applying cement mixture to external, or sometimes internal, walls to achieve a smooth or textured surface. It is similar in technique to plastering.

There are a few different types of render which we have listed below:

Cement Render:
Cement rendering is the application of a premixed layer of sand and cement to brick, concrete, stone, or mud brick. It is often textured, coloured, or painted after application. It is generally used on exterior walls but can be used to feature an interior wall.

Silicone Render:
It is the easiest system to apply, it is hydrophobic (which makes it a self-cleaning render), and it is the most flexible system on the market, making cracking over its lifetime less likely. It is highly durable and breathable as well, so there is very little to say against silicone render.

Polymers Render:
Polymer render is a cement based system with specially selected polymers added to the mix. These polymers make the finished coat strong yet flexible, allowing them to be used on a number of substrates. Silicone water repellents are also an integral part of the premixed polymer/cement based render system.

Acrylic Render:
An acrylic render is any type of render that uses acrylic, which is a type of plastic, in the mix. The acrylic makes the render much stronger and more flexible than traditional rendering mixes, which means that it is much less likely to crack after it has been applied.

Monocouche Render:
Monocouche renders are an exterior finish applied to buildings that provides decoration and protection from the elements. Monocouche render always comes pre-bagged, in factory batched, bags of dry powder.

Lime Render:
Lime render is the first coat of lime "plaster or the like" applied to the external surfaces of traditionally-built stone or brick buildings. It allows the building to 'breathe' – as lime is porous, it allows for the collection and evaporation of moisture.

We have been restoring and renovating render successfully for many years. You can check out some of our more recent work on our social channel. We are able to effectively restore the façade of a building back to the way it looked when it was new, with no paint, no scaffolding and very minimal disruption.
